July 9, 2018 – Martin Fire Swells – Wilson Campground Closed

The massive Martin Fire near Paradise Valley has grown to nearly 400K acres and is about 8% contained after burning some 624 square miles.

BLM Elko will hold a public fire information meeting on Wednesday, July 11 at 5 pm at the Elko District Office to provide an update and answer questions.

BLM Winnemucca will also host a meeting July 11 @ 5 pm in the Humboldt County Commission meeting room.

The Tuscarora Field Office has announced the closure of the Wilson Reservoir Campground until further notice due to fire operations.

The fire is burning in dry grass, fanned by gusty winds and was human-caused. Outlying residents are on notice to evacuate if conditions worsen.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is looking for anyone who may have been camping near Martin Creek or Martin Creek Canyon the night of July 4th.
